Solar Electricity
Solar power for the production of electricity is not new technology in fact it was first discovered in the 1800's. However it is only during the past 2 or 3 years that advanced technology and materials have made it a viable proposition for the every day home owner.
Best of all PV Solar is quite capable of producing electricity even when the sun doesn't shine. Put simply it works on background radiation as well as direct sunlight. Power that is generated is converted into usable mains electricity that is free to use and connects directly to the properties existing system. It is the same as the electricity we all use every day.
Apart from the Solar panels neatly fitted to the roof the only other part that is noticeable is a neat meter that sits alongside the existing electric meter.
And it gets better
Since April 2010 a Government scheme called the Feed-in Tariff was introduced to reward those that use renewable energy such as Solar. In a nutshell, every unit of electricity produced will be paid for at 21p per unit whether or not this power is used by the house. And it gets better, for any excess electricity that is unused and fed back automatically to the grid, a further 0.031p is paid.
Not only will you make big savings on your electricity bills you will be making a healthy profit. Better still it is TAX FREE, index linked and guaranteed by Government for the next 25 years.
You don't need to change your energy provider as they are all involved with this national scheme. So, next time a bill is sent out for the much reduced amount of power used, a payment will also accompany it.
